French-Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry

The French-Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FACCI) was founded in 1899. At the time, Australia’s trade relations with France were almost solely dependent on the export of wool. More than a century later, this relationship now includes a host of many other industries.

The French-Australian Chamber is an independent not-for-profit organisation governed by 15 Board of Directors and comprising of more than 470 members. Our head office is based in Sydney and we also have four other Chapters and offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide.

The Chamber is affiliated with CCI France International, a worldwide network of 119 French Chambers operating in 94 countries.

The Chamber's main mission is to promote our members and help French and Australian companies succeed through information, networking and business support services.

Past Event

The French-Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry was pleased to welcome you to its Transport & Infrastructure Series event dedicated to the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program which took place at the premises of our Corporate member Holding Redlich.

During this one-of-a-kind event in partnership with EgisSystra and OP2 Project Delivery Specialist, our guests had the opportunity to hear from an exceptional panel gathering the Queensland Government and the key project stakeholders and major project experts operating on the QTMP. We had the pleasure to hear from:

  • Paul Hoffmann, General Manager, Passenger Rollingstock and Signalling at the Department of Transport and Main Roads
  • Kamal Habubillah, Executive Manager – QTMP at Downer
  • Chris Hurst, Executive General Manager of Systra ANZ
  • Michael Carreiras, Managing Director of OP2.

Paul Hoffmann started the workshop by providing an overview of the key objectives and goals of the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program. He highlighted how additional green public transport will be good assets to support Brisbane's growth and major events such as the upcoming Games in 2032.

Kamal Habibullah shared his view on how the QTMP had introduced new technological advancements and innovations (robots for example) allowing Queensland trains to gain efficiency, safety, reliability, but also improving accessibility and sustainability objectives.

Michael Carreiras explained to us how crucial it is for such a significant program to be well-prepared and planned for a successful Project Delivery and Execution.

Chris Hurst, representing Systra, also discussed how their role as the Independent Certifier on the QTMP enabled them to uphold the highest quality standards by drawing on their international experience.

Finally, Paul Hoffmann highlighted the economic and employment benefits that the QTMP has brought to the region.

Our guests then enjoyed a morning tea networking session at Holding Redlich's premises.

Once again, we express our sincere gratitude to our valued panellists, and to all our guests for making this event a great success.

Last but not least, thanks to the generous support of our host Holding Redlich, and our Sponsors SystraEgis and OP2 Project Delivery Specialist
