The French-Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland team was delighted to welcome the MEDEF International Delegation to Brisbane at the offices of our Corporate member Ashurst, on Thursday 30 March.

MEDEF International is the export-focused arm of MEDEF, France's premier business leader's organisation, akin to the Business Council of Australia. Their mission is to promote the international development of French companies by supporting them in their export activities and helping them to identify business opportunities in foreign markets. The primary aim of their visit to Australia is to meet key stakeholders of the Australian economy. This particular C-Suite delegation aimed to meet leading players in Australia's energy and infrastructure sectors. As MEDEF's first visit to Brisbane in over a decade, we welcomed members to be part of the French connection as Queensland's energy transition and infrastructure continue apace. As announced by the Queensland Government a few months ago, new commitments have been set to obtain 70% renewable energy by 2032 and 80% energy by 2035, creating many business opportunities. As Underlined by Laurent Germain, CEO of Egis and leader of the MEDEF International delegation, the state's fast-growing population and the Brisbane 2032 Olympics and Paralympics Games also greatly contribute to making Queensland the most attractive destination for foreign companies in Australia.

We were delighted to have among our guests:

  • Laurent Germain, CEO of Egis Group and leader of the MEDEF International Delegation
  • Carolyn Abela Rebiscoul, Investment Director - France & Belgium at the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade)
  • Rod Duke, CEO of Energy Queensland
  • Alain Etchegaray, Honorary Consul of France for Queensland and FACCI Queensland Vice President

Special thanks to Michael Carrreiras, (Head of FACCI Queensland Transport & Infrastructure subcommittee and incoming FACCI Queensland President), for chairing the event, to Dan Brown,( Partner and Co-Head of International Projects Group), and the Ashurst's team for their warm welcome.

We would like to thank Ashurst for supporting this event.

This event was by invitation only, and reserved to our Patron and Corporate members, as well as VIPs.
