Smart City x Mobility: How can the emergence of the Smart City help change the way we move in Melbourne?

The French-Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry Victorian Chapter was delighted to welcome members and friends of the Chamber to our first Transport Industry Event of the year in collaboration with Ashurst at Ashurst Melbourne on Monday 30 May.

The 'Smart City x Mobility: How can the emergence of the Smart City help change the way we move in Melbourne?' event was a fantastic opportunity for our guests to understand how the emergence of the Smart City can improve the way we move in Melbourne. Smart Cities can optimise access to scarce resources such as road space, energy, time, funding. Our well-versed panel provided us with such great expertise and insight in a discussion moderated by Emma Butler, Partner, Ashurst.

It was very interesting to hear the perspective of the City of Melbourne on the potential of data and information, and communication technologies to improve mobility conditions in Victoria from Justin Hanney, CEO, City of Melbourne, as well as the international insights provided by Julien Dehornoy, CEO, Keolis Downer - Yarra Trams, on how the smart use of data can improve the experience of public transport users around the world. The vision shared by Cole Casper, Head of Design, VISEO APAC, on how data can make the use of resources more efficient in Mobility, and by Ainsley Simpson, CEO, Infrastructure Sustainability Council, on the benefits of the Smart City in improving the sustainability of our cities were very insightful as well.

Many thanks to our panellists for their presence and contribution, and thank you to our sponsors Keolis Downer, proud operator of Yarra Trams, and the City of Melbourne, and our partner Ashurst without whom this event would not have been possible!
