WA | Round tables with His Excellency Pierre-André Imbert

We would like to express a heartfelt thank you to French and Australian stakeholders who participated in the exclusive round table discussions with His Excellency Pierre-Andre Imbert, Ambassador of France to Australia, on February 21st at GHD​ on the topics of Critical Minerals and Renewable Energies.

Your valuable insights and contributions played a crucial role in advancing discussions in line with the bilateral engagement between France and Australia to collaborate on these two key and interconnected sectors of our industry.

Renewables is a top priority for France and Australia, as spelled out by the bilateral roadmap​ which was signed during French's Foreign Affairs minister's visit in December.

While French renewables companies expanding operations in WA, are keen to better understand local regulations and WA-specific challenges (off-grid systems, mining sector transition, offshore wind), demand for critical minerals is seen to go through the roof in the coming years with several offtake agreements already signed between French/European consortiums and Australian miners.

France and Australia are reinforcing their joint efforts as expressed in the recently signed MoU signed by Minister Madeleine KING in September 2023.

Together, we've made significant strides in advancing discussions on Renewable Energies and Critical Minerals and we will repeat this exercise in the coming months.

We would like to address a special appreciation to his Excellency Pierre Andre Imbert, Ambassador of France to Australia, for his generous engagement and expertise, enriching our dialogue along with his Political counsellor Lucille SANCHO and the Head of the Regional Economic Services Kambiz Mokham.
