Thank you for attending the event!

The French-Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FACCI) was delighted to host an insightful panel discussion on the role of technology in the ecological transition at the EY premises in Brisbane as part of our 3rd Edition of its Sustainability Forum

With the generous support of our Naming Rights SponsorSchneider Electric, and many other valued sponsors, the event facilitated dynamic discussions on sustainable economic growth and the ambition of French and Australian businesses in the global innovative economy.

This event brought together a panel of experts, including:

The session was moderated by Katherine Boiciuc, Chief Technology and Innovation Officer for the Oceania region at EY, and explored the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalisation on enhanced productivity. The discussion centred around how emerging technologies are reshaping workflows, improving efficiency, and driving innovation.

🌟 Key AI Takeaways from Our Panel Discussion 🌟

Boosting Productivity: Katherine noted that 91% of AI tools focus on productivity, transforming team workflows and enabling faster, smarter data analysis.

Ethical & Regulatory Focus: Andrew highlighted that a risk-based regulatory approach, like the European AI Act, is needed in Australia to keep pace with AI's evolution.

Energy Efficiency: Nicole discussed AI's impact on reducing energy consumption in industries, focusing on sustainable tech advancements.

Balancing Risks and Rewards: Cara stressed the importance of demystifying AI tools and terminology. She emphasised the need to balance risks by understanding responsibilities and implementing proactive measures.

AI's Creative Limitations: Mark pointed out that while AI can generate interesting content, it still lacks a human touch or "soul." He emphasised the importance of connecting and analysing data to generate innovative ideas. AI is reshaping business, energy, and society. Let's embrace progress, not perfection!

Our panellists emphasised that Australia should not just be an importer of AI but actively shape its ecosystem and contribute to international policy discussions.

Advice for Implementing AI Changes:

Start Small: Focus on quick wins by automating repetitive tasks to see immediate benefits.

Educate Your Team: Invest in training to boost AI skills and help your team adapt to new tools and workflows.

Manage Risks: Prioritise data privacy and transparency. Regularly review AI tools to ensure they align with ethical standards.

Measure Impact: Track productivity and energy savings to refine your AI strategy and maximize value.

Stay Agile: Embrace continuous learning and adapt to changes as AI technology evolves.

The event concluded with a call to action for businesses to embrace progress over perfection as AI continues to reshape industries, energy, and society.

Thank you again to all our sponsors, speakers, and participants for making this event a success. Together, we're paving the way for a more sustainable, tech-driven future!
